Women Alive Magazine Goes Green!Dear Friends,
It was in April 2006 when we launched Women Alive, the first-of-it’s-kind magazine for Canadian Christian woman.
Our mission right from the early planning stages was for Women Alive to be a magazine that focused on Canadian women - their needs, interests and incredible ministry contributions in our culturally diverse society. We could not have found a better editor than Karen Stiller. She captured the heart of Canadian Christian women. Our designer, Jeannette Obbink, brought ‘life’ to each page.
We were all delighted when the Canadian Church Press awarded Women Alive third place for the column, “A Woman You Should Meet.” For a new publication, to receive this national award was exciting.
As you can appreciate, the cost of producing a top-quality magazine is high. With individual subscriptions, a major sponsor and advertisers we were able to make it work for a time. The reality of the economic downturn and its affect on sponsorship and advertising has adversely affected future print productions of Women Alive leaving us with no alternative but to suspend further publications.
We are now ‘going green’ and plan to produce a similar quality online version. To ‘go green’ will involve time. We will keep the Women Alive constituency informed of our launch date for the online Women Alive Magazine. In the meantime, we invite you to visit our Online Café blog and our current free Online Magazine.
Sincerely,
Margaret Gibb
